Failed attack - east Gulf of Aden - 1807Z 17 January 2014
The MSC-HOA and the UKMTO have reported a failed attack on an unidentified merchant vessel in the east Gulf of Aden at 1807Z this evening, 17 January 2014, 110nm SSE of Salalah, Oman:
Alert number 001 / 2014.
At 1807 UTC / 17 JAN 14 a merchant vessel was reported under attack in position 15 07 N 054 23 E. Two 5-7m skiffs with 4 POB each and a mother vessel
***This vessel managed to evade hijack***
VESSELS ARE ADVISED TO KEEP WELL CLEAR OF THIS POSITION AND TO EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION IF IN VICINITY. REPORT ANY SUSPECTED OR ACTUAL PIRATE ACTIVITY TO UKMTO DUBAI, BY PHONE: +97 150 552 3215 OR E-MAIL: UKMTO@EIM.AE.
