Two non-developing disturbances racing west
Sunday 3rd July 2016
Disturbance nine is now skirting the southern coast of Haiti and is westbound at a pointless 21 knots. This sustained groundspeed combined with unsettled conditions aloft will prevent development. Disturbance eleven has tracked a little to the north of yesterday's prediction and is now centred around 800 miles north-nor'east of the Amazon delta. This is likely to track a little further north than is customary as it approaches the Caribbean.
This disturbance is also rushing west at some 20 knots which is not conducive to cyclonic development but will produce an increase in showers and thunderstorms across the eastern Caribbean by Tuesday or Wednesday.
