Three mild tropical waves seaborne
Friday 22nd July 2016
Disturbance fourteen which has been an open longitudinal wave since passing Hispaniola is now reduced to a remnant over the Bay of Campeche. It is moving west at 15 knots and is not expected to develop as it moves into southern Mexico today other than to enhance shower and thunderstorm activity across the Bay and southern Mexico.
Disturbance fifteen is also now an open wave stretching from the Cayman Islands to Lake Maracaibo moving west at a good 23 knots. This will enhance shower and thunderstorm activity across northern Venezuela, Colombia, and Cuba today and will move into Central America this weekend. No development is expected.
A tropical wave - disturbance sixteen - moved off the African coast yesterday and is passing the Cape Verde Islands now, westbound at 15 knots. No development is expected for at least a week, if at all.
