Storm brewing in south west Caribbean
Wednesday 16th November 2016
Disturbance fifty two is still parked in the far south western Caribbean, now centred about 250 miles north of Panama. Aerial imagery is now showing a broad circulation centre and we can safely say that this will become a tropical depression and possibly upgrade to a tropical storm this coming weekend. Some of the more enthusiastic chatterers are even predicting this reaching hurricane force next week as it drifts slowly north.
The presence of a large area of high pressure across the Gulf of Mexico behind a strong cold front will prevent any movement by the developing storm into the Gulf of Mexico. Building high pressure north of the storm should induce a westerly movement by Tuesday, steering the storm toward the coast of Nicaragua next Wednesday or Thursday.
Little sign of this headed east now.
