Lull before the storm

Monday 5th June 2017

Avid storm watchers will know that on this day in 2001, tropical storm ALLISON made a landfall in south east Texas with up to 40 inches of rainfall in places, with severe flooding in Houston and causing over 40 deaths along its path. ALLISON parked along the coast and cycled bands of torrential rain from sea to land for almost 2 weeks.

Today, upper level shear has put the lid on Disturbance Three which will pass harmlessly from the Bay of Campeche to the north east Gulf of Mexico. Lull before the storm of course. Early days.

Stand easy.
