Calm returns to the reporting region

Friday 23rd June 2017

CINDY is long off marine radar now, much weakened and tracking through Tennessee and Kentucky. BRET is barely recognisable now, drifting about aimlessly in the far western Caribbean.

Disturbance Nine is centred around 450 miles north-nor'east of the mouth of the Amazon moving west at a steady 12 knots. This should curve slightly to the north soon and will bring showers and the odd roll of thunder to the Lesser Antilles on Sunday but likely to be held in check by upper level shear.

Disturbance Ten is a day west of the Cape Verde islands, westbound at 8 knots. There is some Saharan sand in the convergence zone which is keeping a lid on development.

Stand easy.
