Speculative storm chatter on the wire
Sunday 9th July 2017
What little remains of Tropical Depression Four is centred to the north of Leeward Islands and is moving west-nor'west at 16 knots and is expected to move through the Bahamas early this week. Thereafter it is expected to move across the Florida Straits and the eastern Gulf of Mexico later in the week. Environmental conditions are not expected to be favourable for this to redevelop.
Disturbance Fourteen is now about 350 miles south-sou'east of the Cape Verde Islands moving west at 18 knots. At this course and speed, this will reach the Lesser Antilles by Friday. Environmental conditions are not particularly favourable for development, although some modellers - including the Canadian guy - are chattering about this being one for development. I can't see it, but there is always the law of averages, I suppose. We shall see.
