Caribbean disturbance moving slowly north

Tuesday 24th October 2017

Disturbance Fifty Five is close to the border between Honduras and Nicaragua, but not yet reaching development expectations. The system is expected to drift slowly north over the next 72 hours and thereafter northeast and on towards Cuba and and to the south east of Florida, likely on Sunday. Most modellers continue to indicate at least some development of this system as environmental conditions are marginally favourable. Regardless of development, heavy rain will fall over Nicaragua, Honduras, Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, Cuba and the Bahamas.

Disturbance Fifty Six is half a day east of the Leeward Islands moving west at 12 knots. Enhanced showers and storms are expected for the Windward and Leeward Islands during the next couple of days. however, strong wind shear should prevent any tropical development from occurring.

Stand easy.
