Calm conditions across the reporting region
Wednesday 17th October 2018
Disturbance Fifty Three has piped up in the far south of the Bay of Campeche moving west-nor'west at 4 knots. This should take the system inland over mainland Mexico tomorrow afternoon. While there is a large area of squalls associated with the disturbance, environmental conditions are not favourable and there is little sign of organisation of any kind.
Disturbance Fifty Two is half a day west of the Leeward Islands moving west at 13 knots and is expected to reach the western Caribbean towards the end of the week. Environmental conditions are not favourable for development but the far south west Caribbean is capable of producing northbound surprises at this time of the season.
