Chatter on the wires of a development in the Gulf of Mexico

Thursday 18th July 2019

Chatter on the wires forecasts a cold front moving into the northern Gulf on Monday next week, which is expected to loaf around for a few days giving it time to develop. We will needed to watch this.

The nominal centre of Disturbance Thirteen passed St Lucia overnight and is moving west at 22 knots. This is producing thunderstorm activity across the eastern Caribbean but is expected to dissipate over the coming weekend.

Disturbance Fourteen is a day west, and slightly to the south, of the Cape Verde Islands moving west at 16 knots. Showers and thunderstorms have decreased as this has started hitting airborne sand. Tropical development is not expected.

Stand easy.
