Possible development for Gulf of Mexico next week
Friday 16th August 2019
Disturbance Twenty Five is centred around 620 miles due north of the mouth of the Amazon moving west at 13 knots. Between here and the central Caribbean, conditions are unfavourable for development aside from some enhanced rainfall and thunderstorms as it crosses the Lesser Antilles late this weekend. Thereafter, this is attracting some interest. Many eyes are on this disturbance reaching the southern Gulf of Mexico by the middle of next week when conditions are expected to be more favourable for some tropical development. Early days, but I'd start considering blowing the dust off the storm plans as a precautionary measure.
Disturbance Twenty Six is centred a day west of the Cape Verde Islands and is moving west at 16 knots. This has to pass the Atlantic sandpit if it wants to impress anyone.
