Whispers of weak storm prospect for Gulf of Mexico

Wednesday 16th October 2019

From west to east,

Disturbance Fifty One is now in the Bay of Campeche centred loosely around 155 miles north of Coatzacoalcos creeping north. Environmental conditions are expected to become more favourable for development on Thursday night as this tracks north-east across the Gulf of Mexico. One or two commentators are whispering tropical depression or weak tropical storm before landfall on the Florida Panhandle or southwest Alabama on Saturday. Regardless of development, this will be a rainmaker for the northern and eastern Gulf coast this coming weekend.

Disturbance Fifty is now 12 hours east of the Lesser Antilles moving west at 12 knots. Conditions ahead are not favourable for development aside from heavy showers and thunderstorms across the islands for the next 24 hours or so.

What little remains of Tropical Disturbance Fifteen is scattered around an area centred 70 miles north of the Cape Verde Islands and unlikely to be recognisable tomorrow.

Stand easy.
