Clouds and thunderstorms gathering over Florida Straits

Thursday 14th May 2020

Thunderstorms gathering over the Florida Straits are indicative of the anticipated low pressure cell developing in the tail of an eastbound trough leaving the south-eastern US seaboard. This is fairly haphazard at the moment, but expected to shape up as it tracks north-east across the Bahamas tomorrow, forming our first disturbance of the 2020 season. Most of the plausible modellers are putting their weight behind a storm developing on Saturday afternoon. This is still expected to track harmlessly seaward.

Irrespective of development, this will spread a wide band of rain and thunderstorms over the southern half of the Florida peninsular over the next few days.

Weather watch over the Florida Straits and the Bahamas tomorrow, otherwise stand easy.
