Clouds gathering over Central America

Friday 29th May 2020

Disturbance Three is loafing about some 800 miles south-sou'east of Bermuda, but shaping up to move north-west over the weekend. Environmental conditions are fairly favourable, but only for limited development and unlikely to bother anyone ashore.

Clouds are beginning to form along the trough straddling central America, which is expected to deepen over the weekend. The smart money is still on this favouring the Pacific side where storm-fertile conditions await. Should this produce anything significant so close to the Pacific coast, it is almost inevitable that pressure gradients will have some impact on the far western Caribbean and perhaps into the Bay of Campeche later in the week.

For today at least, stand easy.
