Fast moving Disturbance Twelve causing heavy rain across Netherlands Antilles
Monday 22nd June 2020
From west to east;
The arrival of a new low pressure patch in the Bay of Campeche later this week seems to be generally agreed by the modellers. This is expected to encounter some favourable environmental conditions during its time over warm water, before turning towards the coast of north-eastern Mexico, but still rather early to predict.
Disturbance Nine concluded its race across the southern Caribbean, beaching at speed along Nicaragua's Mosquito coast overnight.
Well to the north, and almost off our radar, Disturbance Thirteen is now loosely centred some 250 miles south-east of Nantucket and headed harmlessly north-east over cool water
Disturbance Twelve is passing close to the north of Curacao, racing west at a staggering 35 knots. Upper level shear and high ground speed will prevent any surface or vertical organisation, but still causing some very heavy downpours across the Netherlands Antilles.
