Upper level shear keeping westbound disturbances in check
Monday 29th June 2020
Disturbance Sixteen is now 350 miles north-nor'west headed due west at 14 knots. This should pass a little to the north of Trinidad tomorrow night with heavy rainfall and some thunderstorms but upper level shear will prevent development as it enters the southern Caribbean.
Newbie Disturbance Seventeen has piped up about 700 miles north east of the mouth of the Amazon with a track slightly north of west indicating a turn to the north before reaching the Caribbean. Upper level shear and some Saharan sand should keep this under control.
