Disturbance one weakening and heading west
Disturbance one has already weakened to a loose tropical wave centred broadly around 500m north east of the Amazon delta and is moving to the west at 18 knots. Development is not expected before it reaches north-eastern South America and even then, is likely to be limited to scattered showers and light squalls.
The low pressure cell identified yesterday to the east of the continental United States has disappointed the more enthusiastic modellers and is now filling and heading seaward. In another embarrassing glitch, in yesterday's report I referred to this as being to the west of Florida which is not an impressive start to my season. It will be alright on the night.
