Suspicious approach – Bab Al Mandeb 14th May 2014
Authorities in the western Gulf of Aden region reported yesterday of a suspicious approach on a merchant ship by two skiffs approx 0420z 14th May in position 12.44.8N 043.21.6 E. With due respect to the reporting vessel, the threat appears to be a marginal. Both skiffs approached within two miles simultaneously and moved away when the armed security team showed weapons. The master also reported a larger vessel in the vicinity which ‘he presumed to be a mother ship'.
Concerned parties continue to recommend a heightened level of security.
