End of 2014 storm season draws near

Disturbance fifty one has been shredded by upper level shear from the north and has dissipated.

Disturbance fifty two is about a day east of the Leeward Islands and coughing and spluttering towards an early demise in the next day or so as it limps west at 6 knots.

Whilst wisps of moist air still show up on aerial imagery in the Atlantic I will allow myself a couple more days of seamanlike caution before ringing Finished With Engines on the 2014 season, but would say that for the oil producing regions of the northern Gulf of Mexico, the season is over. Disappointing for the eleven people who joined this address list yesterday, but not a feeling shared by those readers with interest in the oil leases perhaps.

Stand easy.
