No change over Florida
General overview Tuesday 28th July 2015
Disturbance eighteen has hardly moved, currently centred over the Tampa area. This should begin to track to the north-east soon and move off the north-east coast of Florida in about 48 hours. As the system tracks north-east, paralleling the Carolina Coast, it will encounter northerly wind shear that is expected to keep the system from developing. As we have often observed, eastbound fronts at this time of year can leave low pressure cells in their wake.
Disturbance eighteen sits astride such a front and as it heads east, there is a chance that a disturbance may pipe up off the southeast coast in about 4 to 6 days. At this time, development chances in the northeastern Gulf and off the southeast coast are fairly poor.
Disturbance nineteen is currently 400 miles north of the Amazon delta and is moving west at 14 knots. No development is expected.
Disturbance twenty is just passing the Cape Verde Islands westbound at 12 knots. No development is expected here either.
