Munich Re Syndicate Atlantic, Caribbean & Gulf of Mexico 2022 storm report. Finished With Engines.

| Storm Report 2022

As the frisky tomcat of fate confronts the scalpel of destiny, the last prospective unwanted kittens of rising air in the western Atlantic have been avoided by upper level wind shear cruelly snipping in the fur of the convection cycle. The entire reporting region is now reaching gridlock aloft with busy seasonal frontal activity, surface water temperatures cooling to winter norms and the last wisps of northbound tropical air disappearing into the cruel gloom of the North Atlantic winter. The 2022 season is over.

Since my days of dodging storms for a living, I have always erred on the side of caution and am usually the last one to sign off. The professional agencies have all run down the final curtain in the past week, so I feel confident joining them. The Blind Sniper packed up over a week ago, no doubt by now holed up in his hut somewhere up towards Baffin Island with a winter supply of moonshine and nuts and perhaps a box of kittens for company. I’ll miss him. He hasn’t been too far out with his forecasts this year although still a fair way behind the pack.

We will produce our traditional summary and butcher’s bill before the end of the year but this is the last daily bulletin for the Atlantic, Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico from the Munich Re Syndicate for 2022. This is also my last daily bulletin after 16 years. Thank you for the many kind messages.

Finished With Engines. Stand down.
