Tropical Storm KARL to remain in southern Gulf of Mexico.

| Storm Report 2022

Disturbance Thirty Eight took advantage of unchurned warm waters and deepened to form Tropical Storm KARL. Currently centred 130 miles north-nor’east of Veracruz moving north-west at 5 knots with maximum wind speeds of 45 knots, KARL is producing some high seas with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms and is expected to strengthen further today. I have received a number of emails overnight from addressees concerned at my uncharacteristic agreement with the Blind Sniper’s typically catastrophic view this storm yesterday. Having reviewed this morning’s reports, I have seen the error of my ways and am now in agreement that KARL will not impact the offshore leases in the northern Gulf of Mexico. Karl will remain over the south-western Gulf through tomorrow and Friday as a tropical storm, before weakening to a remnant low on Saturday then dissipate on Sunday over southern Mexico.

Stand by for tropical storm conditions across the southern Gulf of Mexico otherwise, stand easy.
