New rain belt from Cuba to Florida
Thursday 9th June 2016
Disturbance four is still headed west at around 12 knots across the western Caribbean as an open wave deployed more or less from Panama to the Cayman islands. In about three days the disturbance will move over the southern Yucatan peninsula and into the Bay of Campeche. Although the chance of development is fairly low, the disturbance will bring enhanced showers and thunderstorms to the Yucatan and the Bay of Campeche.
Disturbance five has popped us just north of Havana. This is subject to upper level shear so is also unlikely to kick off but it will bring enhanced showers and thunderstorms to Cuba and Florida today.
