New disturbance in the east & chatter in the west
Monday 12th June 2017
A new disturbance designated five has formed close to the Cape Verde Island travelling west at about 12 knots. Environmental conditions ahead are fairly neutral. This will cause enhanced precipitation and the odd roll of thunder in its path.
As often happens in quiet spells during the storm season, there is some advanced speculation, which is sometimes an unrealistically ambitious view. In this case a monsoon low is expected to develop in the far western Caribbean towards the end of this week. If the right number of ducks are in a row, this could move into the Gulf of Mexico early next week and form a tropical development. We shall see.
