Disturbance 1 making rain across Florida but no development expected
Tuesday 15th May 2018
Disturbance 1 has drifted north and is now centred about 180 miles north-nor-west of Tampa. This is still cycling squalls over a large area across the peninsula and into the Florida panhandle to the north, bringing heavy rain in places. As this nears the coast, the wind pattern is drawing dry air from across the Gulf coast to the north and west, which will prevent any meaningful development aside from some enhanced thunderstorm activity.
Avid storm watchers have their eye on a developing low pressure area which is yet undecided between the south-west Caribbean or across the fence in the eastern Pacific. First whispers of a storm heading into the Gulf of Mexico from one or two but in reality, this is far too early to make any assumptions.
