Blue skies but early talk of storm development
Thursday 17th May 2018
Disturbance One drifted ashore across the Florida panhandle with some heavy rain in places with the odd peal of thunder, but is now done and dusted.
Excited chatterers are talking up development of a low pressure system in the far south-western Caribbean next week. One or two fairly reliable sources have gone as far as mapping a tropical storm headed for the central or eastern Gulf of Mexico towards the end of next week. It's a little early for me, but as I will be offshore in the Gulf of Mexico myself, I'd best pack an umbrella. Do remember this is highly speculative. As yet, no storm clouds are darkening blue skies.
