Disturbance Twenty Seven crossing Caribbean unnoticed
Monday 20th August 2018
Disturbance Twenty Seven is passing around 100 miles north of Curacao on a heading just a touch north of west at around 12 knots, with barely any impact ashore other than a cloudy sky and showing no signs of breaking through dry air.
Disturbance Twenty Eight is centred around 100 miles south-sou'west of the Cape Verde Islands, westbound at 12 knots. As anticipated, airborne sand dampened any early enthusiasm that this young system may have shown, and surviving the Atlantic crossing is now questionable.
A new energetic disturbance looks set to burst forth from the coast of Senegal tomorrow but will hit the same wall of sand.
