Saharan sand providing obstacle to storm development
Friday 26th July 2019
From west to east;
The low pressure cell anticipated in the tail of the cold front across the northern Gulf of Mexico has not materialised due to dry, sinking air.
Disturbance Eighteen is centred around 850 miles north east of the mouth of the Amazon westbound at 18 knots. This has some rotation and heavy thunderstorm activity associated with it but will move into a large area of dry and dusty air over the next few days which will dampen its ardour.
Disturbance Nineteen has left the African coast at an enthusiastic sprint. This also has some rotation and heavy thunderstorm activity associated around its centre but will also find its lust unrequited due to a hostile atmospheric environment.
