Developing disturbance crossing Gulf of Mexico
Friday 25th October 2019
Disturbance Fifty Four is now 220 miles east of the mouth of the Rio Grande moving north at 10 knots. This will turn a little more to the east and pick up speed later. This still has a chance of developing into a tropical depression today as it moves across the Louisiana deepwater leases with 45 knot winds. Soon thereafter, it is expected to make landfall across the coast of Louisiana while merging with a frontal system. This will take the bite out of it but will produce enhanced rainfall later today and Saturday for the central Gulf coast through the Tennessee Valley.
Disturbance Fifty Five is crossing the Cape Verde Islands moving west at 15 knots. Environmental conditions give nothing to write home about and tropical development is not expected.
Stand by for rain across the offshore leases and the Louisiana coast otherwise stand easy.
