Some minor developments but otherwise a quiet day across the region
General overview 1900z 1st August 2013
Tropical disturbance twnety eight is a new area of thunderstorms that has appeared in the wake of non-event tropical storm DORIAN over the Bahamas. The thunderstorms are being produced by a slow-moving upper-level low pressure centre located over southern Florida and is moving north west at 5 knots. There are some fairly complex upper level events taking place over the region which will prevent this from developing however this will bring heavy thunderstorms across the southern Florida peninsula and the extreme eastern Gulf of Mexico over the next 2-3 days as it gradually weakens.
In the far eastern Atlantic just off the coast of Africa is a strong tropical wave that has been deignated disturbance twenty nine. This is currently interacting with a very large mass of Saharan air as it moves west at 10 knots thus no short term development is expected.
